We ask you to abstain from alcohol, wheat and processed food for the first 14 days, and to follow your nutritional guidance 90% of the time for optimal results. Training Sessions: Attend three to four training sessions each week. There are always legitimate reasons why you may not be able to make training sessions, but not having time isn’t one of them. Food Tracking: Track your food intake using the MyFitnessPal app and provide James with access to review this regularly. Weekly Biofeedback Tracking: Complete a quick Biofeedback Tracker each week to help us monitor your progress and adjust as needed. This tracker covers key areas like energy, sleep, and stress. Give Your All: Be positive, give 100% commitment and embrace your journey!
  • What can I expect in the initial consultation and assessment?
    Your Initial Consultation: Your journey with PSL begins with an initial 60 minute online consultation with James, which you can book at a time that suits you. Before this session, you’ll be asked to complete a comprehensive questionnaire to provide insight into your lifestyle, health, and fitness goals. During the consultation, James will walk you through the ways he can support you and discuss the available options tailored to your needs. This session is all about ensuring you feel confident and informed about the process. After the consultation, James will send you a summary of what was discussed, giving you a clear overview to help you decide if PSL is the right fit. Your Assessment: If you choose to move forward, the next step is an in-depth 90 minute assessment, conducted in person at PSL’s private training facility. This assessment includes: Biosignature Modulation to analyze how your body stores fat, providing insights into potential hormonal imbalances. Body Composition Analysis to measure lean mass vs. fat mass, setting a baseline for your progress. Functional Movement Screening (FMS), involving exercises like an overhead squat, seated rotation, and active leg raise to identify any areas needing improvement for optimal movement. Following the Assessment: You’ll receive a Welcome Guide detailing everything you need to know about working together, including instructions for booking sessions, personalised nutritional guidance and any initial recommended supplements.   • What is a typical training session like?
    Each session at PSL lasts one hour and is completely tailored to your individual goals, fitness level, and progression. We coach you on proper technique and form to maximise results and prevent injury. Additionally, every two weeks, we’ll conduct a body composition analysis to track progress and adjust your programme if needed. During sessions, we’ll check in with you as to how you‘re feeling about the programme, your nutrition and anything to discuss from your weekly biofeedback tracker. We encourage open communication about any challenges you’re facing, such as how to successfully deal with an upcoming social event or perhaps a specific aspect of the nutrition guidelines, as we can use our time together to discuss solutions that work for you and your lifestyle.
  • How much time do I need to commit to training each week?
    For you to achieve the best results possible on your journey, you will need to commit to training between three to four training sessions each week. Each session lasts one hour, and we’ll assess your body composition measurements every two weeks to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments to your programme.
  • What can I expect from the nutritional aspect of my programme?
    Our nutritional guidance focuses on building a solid foundation to support your overall well-being and results. Initially, we’ll ensure you’re consuming enough protein, drinking sufficient water, and focusing on nutrient-dense whole foods. This approach helps improve sleep, energy levels, and hormonal balance, while reducing hunger and cravings. As you progress, we’ll refine your nutrition to focus on factors like calories, macronutrients, and timing of carbohydrate intake to maximise results. You’ll receive personalised guidelines, explanations on how these changes support your goals, and practical resources like shopping lists and meal ideas with recipes. Flexibility is key, so you’ll have choices within the guidelines, and James is available by message, call, or email for ongoing support.
  • Will you recommend supplements?
    Yes, James may recommend supplements based on scientific research and evidence to support your health and goals. The quality of supplements is important and not well regulated, so we’ve developed relationships with some of the UK’s best supplement providers, and you’ll have the option to purchase these through us or to source them independently. Supplements are always an optional part of any programme.
  • Can you accommodate people with specific dietary needs such as vegetarians, vegans, gluten- or dairy-free?
    Absolutely. We work with anyone who is committed to changing their lifestyle and working towards achieving their goals. Our nutritional guidelines are adaptable to any dietary preferences or restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free options. We provide meal ideas and recipe suggestions that you can tailor to fit your lifestyle, while still meeting your nutritional needs and goals. Our approach emphasises flexibility, allowing you to plan your meals within the nutritional framework we provide.
  • Do I need a certain fitness level to start?
    No specific fitness level is required to start working with us. Our programmes are tailored to meet you where you are, whether you are completely new to training or a seasoned athlete. We’ll design a plan that respects your current capabilities and gradually builds your strength, endurance, and confidence over time.
  • Can you work around existing or previous injuries?
    Absolutely. At Pinnacle Strength Lab, we frequently work with clients who have a history of injuries or have limitations that affect certain movements. If you have an existing injury or a past injury that impacts your ability to perform certain exercises, please let us know during your initial consultation. We believe that training should support and enhance your recovery and performance, not hinder it. Our programmes are customised to accommodate your specific needs and limitations, allowing you to safely work towards your goals without compromising your health. James will tailor exercises to suit your abilities and ensure you’re always progressing within a safe, effective framework.   • What if my lifestyle involves challenges like frequent travel, dining out, or social events?
    Our programmes are designed to work within the realities of your lifestyle, including factors like business travel, social events, and dining out. James will collaborate with you to find solutions that allow you to stay on track while accommodating these aspects. For example, you can share a menu with James ahead of social occasions and he can help you to make informed decisions and consider how to incorporate your choices into your nutrition plan for the week. Together, we’ll create a flexible plan that ensures consistent progress, even with a busy schedule.

He holds a Master’s in Sport Science, is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength & Conditioning Association, and has been certified in PICP by the renowned coach Charles Poliquin.
